Belinda's Poetry

Welcome to my Christian poetry website.

My name is Belinda van Rensburg and I am a reborn Christian who enjoys writing Christ centered poetry.

I'm a South African currently living and working in Paraguay, South America. My husband is a missions pastor/teacher, and we have lived and served in South Africa, Taiwan and Paraguay.

My heart goes out to all God's creatures - especially those who suffer because of neglect or abuse.

It is my heartfelt prayer that God will use me in any way He deems fit to bring people into a right relationship with Him.

Within the pages of this poetry site you'll find poems covering a wide range of Christian topics.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

~ The Master Painter ~
by Belinda van Rensburg

A glowing white-washed orb hung high
Lighting up the midnight sky
As silently it spins and sails
Upon ordained and preset trails.

Silver moonbeams kiss the ground
Then move along without a sound;
Dappled shadows on the grass;
Pale face upon a pond of glass.

Cotton candy clouds glide by
Dimming the moon and starlit sky;
Cold winds blow and they move on;
Soon every misty cloud is gone.

Stardust dancing on the beams
Of the moon and the world seems
Touched by the Master Painter's Hand
Creating an enchanted land.

~ The Shepherd King ~
by Belinda van Rensburg

As nighttime cloaked my velvet dream
I heard Him call your name
He said “I Am the Shepherd King;
It was for you I came.

It was for you that I was born;
It was for you I cried;
It was for you my flesh was torn;
It was for you I died.

I thought of you and gave my breath,
Yes, I want you to know
It was for you I conquered death;
It was for you I rose.”

Ensconced within my dream-cocoon
I heard Christ call your name;
I pray that you will choose Him soon;
It was for you He came.

~ Blessed Storms ~
by Belinda van Rensburg

During stormy weather
Clouds seem to lose their glow;
Gathering together
They darken Earth below.

The leaden sky explodes;
Rain pelts the ground with force
Threatening to erode
The soil without remorse.

Clouds rumble, roil and moan;
Lights split the sky in two;
Earth's creatures hide and groan
Birds bid the air adieu.

Though dark clouds hide the sun;
Though they are glum and gray -
Without them we're undone
For they send life our way.

They're smiled on by the Son
He formed; sent each of them;
A blessing every one;
A mystery to men.

Bringing much needed rain
Enabling life to grow;
Though storms can cause much pain
We need their blessed flow.

When storm clouds gather close
And life seems dark and bleak;
When foes attack; oppose
Leaving us battered; weak.

Remember that each cloud's
A blessing in disguise -
Sent by God; allowed
To strengthen; make us wise.

~ New Beginnings ~
by Belinda van Rensburg

Another year has come to an end;
A new one's awaiting around the bend -
It's time to recall memories painful or dear;
Some now quite faded; some crystal clear.

How did we fare – did we stay at our posts;
Was knowing the Father our only boast;
Did we see hardships as stepping-stones
Or did we face trials with pitiful groans?

How did we fare – can we honestly say
We did God's will for us every day?
When we were weak did we kneel down and ask
God for strength to complete ev'ry task?

How did we fare when trying times came;
Did we call on our Father in Jesus' name;
Did we fully rely on God for protection;
Did we trust Him; follow His direction?

How did we love our neighbors and brothers;
Did we live for ourselves or consider others;
Did we live lives free of self-love and greed?
- These are hard questions to answer indeed.

After everything's been said and done
We'll find we have all fallen short some,
Yet we needn't feel hopeless or fret
Or waste valuable time on useless regret.

Our God is a God of new beginnings;
Able to change failings into winnings.
We should repent and declare anew
God's will is what we desire to do.

Let us resolve that the coming year
Will be the year that we'll persevere;
Not growing tired of doing good,
But to live and love as God's children should.

A poem based on Acts 17:28  ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (NIV)

In Him I Live and Move and Have My Being
by Belinda van Rensburg

Oh my God; my Father - I cannot;
Do not want to live without You;
You and You alone are the reason
For my very existence;
In You I live and move and have my being.

My soul cries out to You, Lord,
My parched soul thirsts for You.
Please fill me with Your living water;
Quicken my spirit -
Ignite an ever-burning fire within me.

I'll have no part; Indeed I desire not
Man-made rules and rituals;
I have no need of them.
I need only You, my Lord, My Savior -
Jesus of Nazareth, Son of the Living God!

Speak to me, Lord,
Speak to your servant;
Open my ears so that I might hear
Your beloved Voice.
Tell me Your secrets, Lord.

Share with me Your thoughts;
I want to know You, Lord.
I desire to know You more and more -
Draw me ever closer as I seek
Your beloved Face.

You are fathomless –
Beyond human comprehension,
And yet You love me;
Yet, you talk to me; share Your thoughts with me
Yet You call me Your child.

Praised be Your Holy Name!

A poem based on Psalm 8:3 'When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,' (NIV)

Star Gazers
by Belinda van Rensburg

Souls in quiet contemplation
In distant lands; from ev'ry nation
Have looked upon the moon and sun;
Upon the stars which brightly shone.

According to the Master's plan
Fire from our Maker's Hand
Has set the galaxies ablaze
Leaving man on Earth amazed.

Whenever souls gazed 'pon Creation
Those in silent meditation
Have seen the Hand of God therein
And felt His touch deep down within.
